Hawaii News Now’s Malika Dudley visits Waiakea High
Malika Dudley visited Waiakea High School Friday and spoke to STAR Academy students about success in communications related careers, citing her own experiences in the world of broadcast news.
The 2000 graduate of Hilo High School is currently one of the meteorologist at Hawaii News Now. She was also received the Regent’s Scholarship at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she doubled majored in French and Speech Communication. In 2005, she became Miss Hawaii, and in 2007, she began working for KGMB9, now Hawaii News Now.
Speaking before a small group of STAR Academy students, Dudley noted the importance of being passionate about something in being successful. She talked about how employers in any career field are looking for “good people” who are able to adapt to changing workplace environments.
Dudley was one of several guest speakers who the STAR Academy has invited in recent weeks to speak to its students about career planning.
